Centerfold Babes.

The centerfold of a magazine refers to a gatefolded spread, usually a portrait (pin-up or a nude,) usually inserted in the middle of a publication, & featureing the model in a sexy portrait. The term was originated by Hugh Hefner, of Playboy. The success of the first issue has been attributed in largely to its centerfold babe: a nude of Marilyn Monroe. The advent of monthly centerfold babes gave the pin-up a new respectability, and helped to sanitize the notion of "sexiness". Being featured as a centerfold babe often leads to film roles for models, popularity & success in the adult entertainment industry.
